Mapping of a Major QTL, qBK1Z, for Bakanae Disease Resistance in Rice

نویسندگان

چکیده

Bakanae disease is a fungal of rice (Oryza sativa L.) caused by the pathogen Gibberella fujikuroi (also known as Fusarium fujikuroi). This study was carried out to identify novel quantitative trait loci (QTLs) from an indica variety Zenith. We performed QTL mapping using 180 F2:9 recombinant inbred lines (RILs) derived cross between resistant variety, Zenith, and susceptible Ilpum. A primary genotypes phenotypes RILs indicated that locus qBK1z conferring bakanae resistance Zenith located in 2.8 Mb region bordered two RM (Rice Microsatellite) markers, RM1331 RM3530 on chromosome 1. The log odds (LOD) score 13.43, accounting for 30.9% total phenotypic variation. finer localization delimited at approximate 730 kb interval physical map Chr01_1435908 (1.43 Mbp) RM10116 (2.16 Mbp). Introducing or pyramiding with other previously identified QTLs could provide effective genetic control rice.

QTL Mapping in Three Rice Populations Uncovers Major Genomic Regions Associated with African Rice Gall Midge Resistance

African rice gall midge (AfRGM) is one of the most destructive pests of irrigated and lowland African ecologies. This study aimed to identify the quantitative trait loci (QTL) associated with AfRGM pest incidence and resistance in three independent bi-parental rice populations (ITA306xBW348-1, ITA306xTOG7106 and ITA306xTOS14519), and to conduct meta QTL (mQTL) analysis to explore whether any ge...

The symbiotic effect of Piriformospora indica on induced resistance against bakanae disease in rice (Oryza sativa L.)

The root endophytic fungus, Piriformospora indica, colonizes roots of a large number of plant species including Cereals and Brasicaceae. There are several reports indicating that P. indica protects roots from different path- ogens. In the present study, rice plants were pre-inoculated with P. indica and were subsequently infected with Fusarium proliferatum, as the causal agent of root rot and c...

Importance of QTL Mapping for Heading Date in Rice

Heading date in rice is one of the most important indices in rice breeding being governed by multiple genes known as quantitative trait loci (QTLs). This character along with grain yield determines the commercial potential of any rice cultivar. In the last three decades the development of DNA markers have led to the precise analysis of QTLs. Various mapping populations are being used to explore...
